COVID-19 & Public Health Safety Measures

The Mama Bear team wishes you health, joy and peace.

In response to COVID-19, we have listed
Mama Bear's safety protocols & have compiled information and
resources we hope you will find useful.

Safety Protocols

Mama Bear Midwifery acknowledges that we all have different definitions of safety and levels of comfort with risk. It is our goal to ensure that the Mama Bear team stays healthy, avoids transmitting covid or other illnesses from family to family and remains available for clients when they are in labor. For these reasons, the Mama Bear team tries to be as careful as possible and asks the same of all the families we work with.

This is how we try to be safe::

  • Mama Bear Midwifery encourages everyone to follow public health principles & guidelines.

  • Masks that cover the nose and mouth may be required at visits in the office and home.

  • Depending on the infection rate of covid or other illnesses, everyone present at the birth, except the laboring person, may need to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth.

  • Testing for illness is required if the client or anyone in their home has a cold or GI symptoms at any time during the pregnancy or immediate postpartum period.

  • Covid at the time of labor may risk a client out of being at home for the birth.

  • If anyone in the birth team or home has covid, they will be isolated in the home or not not present at the birth.

  • If anyone in the Mama Bear team has covid or is in quarantine, they will not attend prenatal visits or the birth. Every attempt will be made to find an alternate midwife or assistant. .
